OCEAN SPLASH
Forbah Sandra Ngwemetoh
The problem non inclusive environmental education system that takes into account real life environmental problems; As a young girl, from i didn't receive any course about the environment or ocean hence a system change is necessary in Cameroon.
Cameroon has a very rigid educational system hence uniqueness of this initiative for ocean literacy awareness is new and uses simple combinations of uncommon tools such as; -Nature Artivism; for expressions that provide a platform for art advocacy (theather, photography, music, poems) and career orientation to thrive. -Ocean-climate advocacy leveraging on social media's power to express and raise youth voices from the communities of Limbe ( coastal fishing communities) building on communication and lobbying skills for a change. -Storytelling as a new key tool to helps youths to relate to stories, use stories to express their thoughts on real life community experiences to touch and build empathy. - Green entrepreneurship; for a thought provoking encounter for youths and participants to dig through their creative potential, learn to be proactive and solution driven innovatives of their communities. All these are new for the general educational system of which we hope to be a bigger, more scaled system as we start from the community level.
